Arbanassi village is situated 4 km north east of Veliko Tarnovo, on a high plateau which reveals beautiful view to Tsarevets and Trapezitsa hills. The village is very popular tourist destination with its remarkable old houses and churches with detailed wooden ornaments and wall – paintings. The whole complex is a monument of the Bulgarian architectural art and it was built during the period 16 – 18 century, when Arbanassi is in its apogee. That’s why Arbanasi is declared to be historical settlement of national significance.
The whole complex is a remarkable site. The famous Arbanassi houses are unique. The oldest buildings are similar with the Tarnovo boyar house. They are like small fortresses, completely madIMe of stone. They have strong stone gates and sentry – boxes.
It is not only the remarkable houses that are very interesting in Arbanassi. There are spectacular fountains with big eaves – Kokonska and Pazarska fountains and the seven Arbanassi churches are among the most – remarkable monuments of the Bulgarian art.
Very close to the village are located two monasteries which function to these days. The names of the monasteries are St. Nicholay and Uspenie Bogorodichno (The Holy Mother).
The village of Arbanassi is an architectural heritage and it’s listed among the UNESCO world heritage.
Bozhentsi is a small village, thucked in the north sides of the Central Balkan Range.
Bozhentsi is a historical, architectural heritage, preserving more than 100 monumental houses from the Bulgarian revival.
Bojentsi is a village with a history of more than 600 years. The beginning is a legend: the legend of the Boyar woman Bojana, who took her brothers and sons out of the destroyed capital Veliko Tarnovo 6 centuries ago. Together they settled in the venerable woods and built a village which was later named after her.
The Village-reserve is visited by thousands of people throughout the year. There are two house-museums to be seen, built in the 18 and the first half of the 19 century, with exhibitions of original objects dating from that period. The exposition ”History Remembers Only the Daredevils and the Generous Donators” presents the history of Bojentsi with photographical materials, objects used in the everyday life and luxury objects – part of the lifestyle of local people, the genealogy of some notable families from Bojentsi who made donations for the building of schools, churches and houses. The village earned a very good reputation through their involvement in the political and cultural life of the country. Among the items exhibited in the museums, the visitor can see a vice for wax with an original mechanism from the beginning of 19 century, a cutler’s workshop, a constant exhibition - bazaar of different fabrics, a monastery school; there is a hall in which different exhibitions take place depending on the season and the holidays – survaknitsi, martenitsi, Easter day’s rituals, pictures, photos...
There are also revivals of authentic national customs depending on the holidays – Lazaruvane, Koleduvane, St. George’s day. The village offers you the possibility to stay in old-style houses. Also, there are taverns, cafes, shops, …
Koprivshtitsa
Koprivshtitsa is a small picturesque town in the heart of Sredna Gora Mountain. It is situated 110 km southeast away from Sofia and 80 km away northwest from Plovdiv. The town preserves the atmosphere of the Revival period and rich historical heritage. Koprivstitsa was declared to be museum town.
Koprivshtitsa is full of landmarks and historical monuments. The house museums of Liuben Karavelov, Todor Kableshkov and Georgi Bemkovski keep many interesting facts and documents about the life and work of the great Bulgarian revolutionaries. Inside the Oselkova and Lutova houses the visitors can feel the atmosphere of the typical Bulgarian home. The house museum of the great Bulgarian poet Dimcho Debelianov is huddled between two big pine trees and if you cross the doorstep of the inner courtyard you will understand his verse “Do you remember the silent backyard”
The whole town gives the feeling of complete coziness and calmness. There are many taverns and restaurants that leave unforgettable memories with delicious dishes and unique atmosphere.
Ribaritsa
The village of Ribaritsa is found 600 metres above the sea level, at the foot of Stara Planina Mountain Range. The village is located 12 km away from the town of Teteven and 128 km away from Sofia. Ribaritsa is spread along Beli Vit River coast and thus is a perfect place for holidays, far away from the city.
The resort village of Ribaritsa offers excellent opportunities fro eco tourism. Water mills, distillers (for the traditional alcohol drink called "rakia") and small craftsman’s shops make strong impression on tourists. The river is mountain clean, the air is crystal pure, the nature is magnificent and in the immediate proximity are the sides of the Balkan Mountain. They are included in the territory of the national park "Central Balkan". The most remarkable spot here is a biosphere reserve, called Tsarichina, listed in the world net of biosphere reserves.
Ribaritsa is a starting point of many walkers` and cyclists` routes. The reserves "Boatin", "Kozia stena" (Goat wall) and the preserved location "Black hill" are located near the village. Only on few hours walk are the mountain huts "Echo", "Vezhen" and "Georgy Benkovski", such as the peaks of "Vezhen" and "Baba". Ribaritsa offers a lot of comfortable hotels, private lodgings, holiday houses and marvelous restaurants. The locals are mainly engaged in tourism, agriculture and stock- breeding.
The village is a perfect place for those searching for quietness and solitude among the nature.
